Discover a Relaxing Holiday in Norfolk

Would you like to spend some time exploring some of England's water ways then holidaying in Norfolk + Norfolk Broads should be considered. The Norfolk Broads now form the largest nationally protected wetlands in the whole of the UK and is home to a wide array of different wildlife.
The wetlands were formed during Medieval Times when people living in the area would dig up peat to provide heat in their homes as it was burnt on their fires. But as they dug it up they did not realize that the areas would become flooded and so the Norfolk Broads came into being. For many centuries no body considered using this water ways for anything until the Victorians chose to use them for transporting heavy goods around the county of Norfolk.
Although they are not used as much for transporting goods they are still in use today and most often for pleasure. The great thing about travelling along these water ways unlike others in England there are no difficult locks that need to be negotiated along its 125 miles.
If you are thinking of taking a boating holiday in Norfolk + Norfolk Broads there are a number of companies that can rent you a boat. Some have boats that are suitable for only cruising along the waterways for an afternoon, whilst others provide much larger yachts or cruisers that you can spend a whole week traveling the water ways on.
As you traveling along the Norfolk + Norfolk Broads water ways there are plenty of places where you can stop and moor up allowing you to explore the surrounding area more. There are plenty of places as you wind your way along the water or if traveling by car that are worth visiting and below we look at just a few of them.
Wroxham - This is a very beautiful market town and is also very lively and its residence believe it to be the capital of this part of England. During the summer months one can get involved in a number of different activities and events that take place in it. Plus one should not miss out on visiting and wandering around what is considered to be England's largest village store.
Woodbastwick - This is one of the region's most beautiful villages having been awarded the honour of being awarded the County's Best Kept Village title. Because it is very tranquil you will not find it difficult to relax an unwind here. Why not enjoy looking around the village's beautiful flint Medieval church which is topped with a traditional Norfolk thatch roof. Plus why not take time out to visit Woodfordes Ales Brewery where you can see how some of Norfolk's ales are made and where you can sample some as well.
King's Lynn - Of course no holiday to Norfolk + Norfolk Broads would be complete without spending a few hours or days in this market town. Along with having a wide array of shops and restaurants for you to enjoy during June, July and August there are a number of wonderful musical festivals to take in as well.
