Chess Sets and Boards What You Need To Know
by John Skelly
Chess is a very famous game played by two players on a specifically designed chessboard. The game, as we know it today, emerged in the southern part of Europe during the 15th century. The European chess evolved from a similar but much older Indian game. Nowadays, chess is still one of the most popular games worldwide and it is played by many people at home, in tournaments, clubs and online. It is a game that solidifies relationships between family and friends, especially when mentoring is involved. There are many different variations of chess sets and boards, however all of them have something in common. A typical chess board is divided into 64 squares colored in black and white and appointed in an eight by eight grid. Depending on what you are looking for, chess sets and boards can be found in many different sizes and variations. A folding chess set, for example is one variation of a chess set, which many people who play chess for fun, find quite useful. There is also a special travel chess set, that is usually smaller in size. This kind of set could be perfect if you are going on a vacation or camping since it doesn't require much space and it is easy to use. Folding and travel chess sets are usually made of some variation of wood. There are also magnetic chess sets available on the market and they are considered to be very useful since the pieces cannot slide from the board. They are made from various materials like wood, plastic or metal and come in variety of sizes as well. The chess pieces are magnetized and adhere to the board by a metal plate fitted under the board. You can play with a magnetic chess set in the car, train, boat, or space shuttle! Well, maybe not during launch of the shuttle, but you get the idea. Nowadays, electronic chess sets and electronic chess computers have become more popular since they are also quite convenient for travel and easy to use. These kinds of chess sets and boards even have some really nice features like a game storage and save function, which is very convenient if you want to pause your game and continue another day. Many chess computers allow you to play against the computer at varying levels of difficulty, so you can sharpen your skills before playing against a real person. It can also be fun to turn off the single player mode and play against a real human opponent. No matter which of the chess sets and boards you choose, the game will stay the same and the rules will not change. If you're new to the game, the first rule of chess is that a player in possession of white pieces always starts first. At the start of the game both players control the same amount of pieces - a king and queen, two bishops, two knights, two rooks and eight pawns. The goal of the game is to checkmate the other player's king. "Checkmate" means that the king cannot move away from an attack. Some players call it war without bloodshed. Most avid players call it fun!

OK so...I'm going to upload 1 chapter a day probably in the morning unless I get massive amounts of commenting! haha ;) But anyway I have 33 subs and I need 17 more until I can do a chapter marathon! _______________________________________
Nick: I guess that leaves us the snacks. *he meant Sam and him* *he and Sam go into the kitchen* Sam: *she's still a little dazed about what Nick said* Do you want to go healthy or not healthy? Nick: Not healthy! Sam: Me too! Let's see...how about...you can never go wrong with potato chips. And then we'll need some soda. Nick: OH! I have to show you the best drink ever! Sam: Show me! Nick: OK hand me a RedBull. *she hands him one* Nick: Thanks. Now I need two cups of ice. *she measures out two cups and hands it to Nick* Sam: What exactly are you doing? Nick: *dumps the RedBull into a blender with the ice* Making an awesome drink. *she stands next to him and watches as he starts the blender* *when he's done he puts it into a cup and adds a straw* Sam: It looks like a slushy, except it's like super caffeinated! *she smiles* Nick: Here, try it. *he holds the drink up to her mouth and she takes a sip* Sam: OMG. That's so good! Who knew something so simple could be...well, so awesome! Nick: *smiles and takes a sip* I'm glad you like it. So now we need three more, this could be mine and I'll make you a fresh one. *he looks back at her and sees that she's taking a sip of his drink* Hey! Sam: *looks around makes a funny face* Um,this is really good. *she smiles awkwardly* Nick: *laughs* You're funny. Sam: *she picks up the drink and takes another sip* Nick: So I guess that's yours and I'll make a new- Sam: *interrupts him* Oh no I still want another! We'll just make four and split this one. *she holds it up to his mouth and he sips it but he starts laughing for no reason and it comes out his nose* Nick: *laughs* OW! *laughs* Sam: *laughs at him* Are you OK? *laughs* Nick: *laughs* That hurt! *laughs* Sam: *giggles* Why did you start laughing like that? Nick: *giggles* I do that some times. Just start laughing for no reason what so ever, I am Mr. Positive. *he pours more slushy into a cup* Sam: *giggles and takes a sip of slushy* I'm going to go and see how the others are doing. Nick: Alright, hurry back. Sam: I will. *she walks into the main part of the bus* Sam: Hey, what games did you get? Joe: I found Monopoly, Chess, Connect 4 and Pay Day. Kevin: And the movies in and I found our scene. Sam: Great! You know, *she walks over to the iPod dock and changes the song to "Games"* this song might work for now. Joe: Yeah it does! Kevin: Your right. Nick: Is that "Games"? *he walks into the lounge with a tray of RedBull slushy drinks* Sam: Yeah I thought it would be cool to play it while we played board games. It's sort of a really bad joke that Josh and I used to do. Joe: That's nothing compared to Nick's joke! You know how this song says "so board with these games"? Sam: Yeah. Joe: Well- Nick: *interrupts him* No, no don't tell her! Joe: To late! *Nick groans* Well, when Nick was about six or seven he had a joke about board games that went...Kevin help me. Kevin: OK, you be Nick. "Nick do you want to play a board game?" Joe: "No, board games make me board." *Sam, Joe and Kevin laugh* Nick: *blushing* See I knew she would laugh! Sam: *giggles* I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing because I had the same joke when I was six or seven like you and Josh and Jacob make fun of me all the time about it! Nick: Oh! *he smiles* So we both had really bad jokes when we were younger? Sam: Oh yeah, I've even had worse. Nick: Good. *he hands each of them a slushy* Enjoy! Sam: *she takes a sip* Yum. Joe: Ah, Nick's famous RedBull slushy. *he takes a sip* So refreshing! Kevin: *sips his own* Aaahhh... So! What game do we play first? *Sam looks around at all the games* Kevin: How bout a chess tournament? Sam: You're on! Joe: Oh-OK. Nick: Yeah let's do that. I get to play Joe! Kevin: Who said? I want to play Joe; I seriously doubt I could beat Sam! Sam: How do you know? Kevin: *smiles* I can tell. Sam: *smiles* Why do you two want to play Joe? Nick: *sipping his drink* Because, if you play Joe your guarantied to win. Joe: *frowns* Shut up. Sam: *walks over to Joe* It's OK. Play this time and next time I see you I'll tutor you on the pro standards of chess. Joe: *looks hopeful* Thanks. You just wait, I'm going to beat you next time! The master of chess DJ DANGER! Sam: That's the spirit! Let's start the movie, *she walks over to the iPod dock and turns off the music* I can't wait until you see what happens next. Joe: *he gets excited* Why?! What happens!? Sam: Do you really think I'm going to tell you? Joe: *sets up the chess board on the ground and looks disappointed* No. But now I'm all excited, so put on the movie! _______________________________________
